National Day of Mawlana, greatest mystical poet

The land of Iran is the cradle of countless famous people and poets; one of the most famous Iranian Sufi mystic poets is Jalāl ad-Dīn Muhammad Balkhī, who is known as Mowlana or Mowlavi – an honorific meaning “our master”. He is globally renowned for his lyrics and for his didactic epic Masnavi-e Maʿnavi (“Spiritual Couplets”), which widely influenced mystical thought and literature throughout the Muslim world.

Mehr 8 in the Iranian calendar corresponding with September 30 is considered a significant cultural event for Iranians to commemorate the prominent Iranian poet Jalal ad-Din Muhammad Balkhī.
