Iran's female Taekwondo athlete ranks 1st in Asia

Semnan, IRNA – Head of Semnan province Taekwondo Board said here on Sunday that Qazal Soltani, from that province on Sunday evening defeated her Russian competitor in the final of minus 53 kg to gain the Asian gold medal.
Saeed Noruzi Ajam told IRNA that the contests on the first day of The 3rd International Free Taekwondo competitions in women’s group were held in minus 46, minus 53, minus 62 and minus 73 kg weight categories.
He added that the international competitions were held in the presence of 138 taekwondoins from six countries, namely Jordan, Afghanistan, Iran, Pakistan, Russia and India.
“Qazal Soltani in the semi-final match of the minus 53 kg weight category beat her Iranian competitor, gained 13 points, and reached the final match, where she faced the Russian athlete, and beat her to gain another 10 points and stand on Asia’s top step.
He said that in Free taekwondo a gold medal winner gains 10, a silver medal winner 6 and a bronze medal winner 3.5 points according to the Olympics’ ranking method.
