His Holiness Pope Francis responded to a letter he received on 15th March from Ayatollah Mostafa Mohaghegh Damad, a religious scholar in Iran. In the letter Pope Francis expressed his condolences to the people of Iran for the suffering caused by the coronavirus. He also said that this was the time for humanity to become closer. He also noted that the Holy See conveyed Ayatollah Mostafa Mohaghegh Damad's concerns to the US Ambassador to the United Nations.
