PRESS RELEASE                                                       17th June 2025 – 12noon       Act of Aggression from the Zionist Israeli Regime   In the Name of God   On 13 June 2025, Iran was unjustly attacked by a criminal and evil Zionist regime. These acts of aggression by the Israeli regime are a continuation of the regime’s eight-decade long record of unlawful settlement policies and repeated violations of International norms - a regime that has long been the greatest violator of international laws and norms. The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Dublin condemns this act of aggression by the Israeli regime against the territorial integrity of Iran, as well as its attacks on residential areas, military forces, and economic and public infrastructure - actions that have led to the martyrdom of several high-ranking military officials and a large number of civilians. The Zionist regime’s attacks on Iran constitute a violation of Article 2(4) of the UN Charter and a blatant act of aggression against the Islamic Republic of Iran. In accordance with Article 51 of the UN Charter, Iran reserves the legitimate and legal right to respond to this aggressive violation. The Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran will not hesitate to defend Iran’s sovereignty with full strength and in the manner they deem appropriate. The recent dangerous actions of the Zionist regime in attacking Iran’s nuclear facilities is a clear violation of international law, the UN Charter and the resolutions of the IAEA Board of Governors; this unlawful armed attack constitutes a grave threat to international peace and security. The claim of the Zionist aggressor regime that it acted in “self-defence” after its aggression against Iran has no legal basis. By violating Iran’s sovereignty, this regime initiated the aggression itself and cannot claim to be defending itself. Iran seeks a response based on international law, not out-of-bounds retaliatory measures. The military action of Iran is limited, targeted and proportionate to the threat posed by the aggressor.  The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Dublin therefore calls upon the United Nations at large to take immediate action in response to this clear violation of international peace and security. Since The Islamic Republic of Iran is determined to defend its sovereignty and people against this regime's aggression, any call for restraint from a country whose people and territorial integrity have come under direct attack is logically and morally unjustifiable. Instead, pressure must be applied to the aggressor.
