Recent official visits between I.R. Iran and Ireland
Chairman of the Senate of the Republic of Ireland Denis O’Donovan visited Iran in 2017 and met President Dr. Rouhani and parliament speaker Dr. Larijani.
Former Ceann Comhairle H.E. Seán Barrett visited Iran in 2015 which was a turning point in bilateral relations. H.E Barrett had the opportunity to meet President, Parliament Speaker and ministers of Foreign Affairs and Communication.
Dr. Ali Larijani, Majlis (parliament) Speaker paid a visit to Ireland as a response to the visit of H.E Sean Barrett the ex- Ceann Comhairle in year 2015.
In another development, Mr. Takhte Ravanchi, deputy minister for Euro-American affairs paid a visit to Dublin in late January 2015. He has been a member of Iranian delegation to 5+1 nuclear talks. This visit was a response to the visit by Irish counterpart to Tehran.
Mr. Liam Twommy of Ireland-Iran Parliamentary Friendship Group, as a head of delegation visited Iran in 2015. He Held talks with High Ranking Iranian Officials. Iran’s Head of Iran-Ireland Parliamentary Friendship Group Also visited Dublin and met with Irish officials. These visits focused on important bilateral, regional and international issues.
