Condemning the killing of civilians and security forces in Iran by terrorists directed by the Zionist regime
With due respect for the authorities of Ireland, the Government of Iran firmly believes in freedom of expression and the right to peaceful assembly as an inherent and undeniable right of the Iranian people.
However, peaceful protest must not be confused with nightly riots directed by the Zionist regime and the United States, involving the killing of innocent civilians and police forces, and the widespread destruction of public and private property.
It is regrettable that some Irish and European officials fail to condemn foreign interference, violence against security forces and civilians, and the destruction of public assets, while remaining silent on the unjust and extensive EU sanctions that have imposed severe economic hardship on the Iranian people.
Such positions do not represent solidarity with Iranians, but rather reflect a discriminatory and double-standard policy of collective punishment that only increases pressure on ordinary people.
It is expected that statements by international officials be comprehensive and reflective of all relevant realities, and not based solely on selective, biased, or politically motivated reports and allegations, and that any intervention likely to exacerbate the non-peaceful dimensions of recent protests be avoided.
